The sun is shining here on Maui!

"In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer. And that makes me happy."  - Albert Camus

For those of us who enjoy the warmth and sunshine of summer, living in Hawaii during the middle of winter (in the northern hemisphere) makes us ridiculously happy. The average temperature here in Kihei during the day right now is in the low to mid eighties. The whales are here in their full glory and the island is alive and well with many visitors. It's the peak of the busy season and we've been enjoying the steady company of guests from around the world.

This is Sojourn's first winter season since opening last April and we've been both delighted and grateful to all the people who have found us and decided to spend part or all of their vacation at our bed and breakfast. While it's exciting to say we're almost completely booked during the months of February and March, we want potential guests to know there are still a few days here and there where you can book your spontaneous 3-4 day trip to Maui.  Give us a call or send us an email and we can tell you when those dates are!

If there's an invincible summer within you that's needing a wee break from the wintertime cold, come this way and let the weather and the whales of Maui make you very happy.

Sojourn Maui Bed & Breakfast is now on Vine and Instagram

Sojourn Maui Bed and Breakfast is going social.

As the newest bed and breakfast in Kihei, Maui, we're not the easiest accommodation to find online...yet!  It takes both technological savvy and time for one's website to get noticed and get on the first page of whatever it is your customers are searching for - Maui Bed and Breakfasts. :-)

So, what does a small business without a huge marketing budget do to gain attention and momentum?

They get more social - online and offline.

We're now posting 6 second videos on Vine and photos on Instagram of our property, personal recommendations on what to see and do while visiting the island as well as pictures of pleasantly, positive people you'll want to meet during your visit.

I'm still in the process of figuring out how best to post and tag in these applications and as I get better at it, I'm hoping more and more people will find us. Of course, we'll continue to post pictures here from time to time as well and we're contemplating when our next Dance Party might be.

Stay tuned in and stay with us when you come to Maui!

Sojourn Maui Bed & Breakfast opens in 2 weeks!

Aloha!

And then there were just 14 days before Sojourn Maui opens its doors. Whee!  Although we're still in the midst of a few landscaping projects, come April 1, our Serenity Suite and Harmony Room will be ready and so will we, your hosts, to welcome you in as our first "official" guests.

As the newest bed and breakfast in Kihei, Maui, we're looking forward to offering visitors one more beautiful place to choose from when it comes to choosing affordable and comfortable accommodations that include a morning meal. Sojourn Maui is located in the lovely residential neighborhood known as Maui Meadows in South Kihei and is an ideal place to stay as it's in close proximity to several of the best beaches on the island and many restaurants.

We will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, April 23 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. to celebrate the opening of Sojourn Maui.

Whether you live here on Maui or are visiting the island, please join us for an evening of delicious pupus (appetizers), drinks and dancing as we share our home and new business with our neighbors and friends.  No need to r.s.v.p. Just come on by between the hours posted above and say hello.

Here are a few more before and after photos that show you more of the renovations we've done to the property over the last two years. We'll continue posting pictures so you can see the transformation that has taken place.

We replaced the French doors with Fleetwood sliders and screens which opened up the view BIG time. We also replaced the kitchen's ceramic tile counter-tops with Italian carrera marble and changed out the old range with a glass-top stove.

This is the view now. A warm beige color and a painting by our friend, Jimmy Freeheart adorns the wall. All of our guest rooms are located upstairs and there's a landing area above that serves as our early morning coffee service and snack space.

Sojourn Maui Bed and Breakfast - Three weeks and counting down!

Just twenty-one days left before Sojourn Maui Bed and Breakfast opens to its first guests.

Aloha!

We thought it would be entertaining to show you what the property looked like when we first saw it in early 2013. Who doesn't enjoy a good before and after photo? Whether it's a personal transformation or a house renovation, it's fun to see how a project takes shape when some love and attention are given to it.

We'll be adding more pictures to our website soon and sharing them with you here on a frequent basis so keep on coming back to see how Sojourn Maui went from being a vacant property for almost two years and turned into a beautiful home and serene bed and breakfast two and a half years after that.

Are you or someone you know planning a trip to Maui in the near future? We are offering a 25% discount off our regular room rates for the first two months we're open and we'd love to have you stay with us!  You can book your reservations online now or you can give us a call before reserving a room if you have questions.

Cheers,

Lila & James

Sojourn Maui will open April 1

Aloha!

The newest bed and breakfast on the island of Maui is ready to open its doors come April 1!  Reservations are now being taken for bookings occurring after that date. The next thirty-one days in March will be busy ones as we add the final touches to our home that will transform it from "our" house to your haven.

In the upcoming month before we open and greet our first guests, we'll be adding more photos to the website as we complete the last landscaping and structural projects around the property.

This is our poolside cabana we're calling The Sanctuary. While this will primarily be used as a creative space for Lila and James, guests will be able to receive a massage here.

We'll also be sharing more stories and pictures here on our blog about the property's two and a half year renovation and some of the adventures we've had along the way to becoming a licensed bed and breakfast.

We look forward to hearing from you and we'd love to have you as our guests!
